3 Squad Friday and again no accident car!!!!
1st call right out of the gate was for a couple of homeless people living behind a business at the outskirts of the city/county line. While I was in route to my call I passed an intersection where some street workers were digging up the street and had some water on the roadway which was starting to ice up. I requested a sand truck from radio and continued on to my call. In reference to my call we have been there numerous times in the past for calls like this and they usually move along when told and the business owners do not want to press trespassing charges since they will have to go to court and testify that these homeless people do not have the right to be on private property and nobody except crazy police officer want to spend hours upon hours sitting in court. So I move the homeless along and advise the manager of the business to call us if they come back.
So while I am talking to the manager I hear radio dispatch a unit to the intersection with the ice forming for a 2 vehicle accident and when he gets there he tell radio there was just another accident and request another unit. Now you have to understand that there are a lot of asshole NDF's here and everybody is in a hurry to get nowhere and do not pay attention to our pretty blue lights. By the way they are pretty. Anyway this same officer again comes over radio and says that he has a third accident and as he is saying that he pauses and says "hold on radio I think, yep we have another accident" So that's makes 4 accidents within a span of 5 minutes. Nice job by all the officers involved.
Next call is to assist another officer with traffic control on a gas leak. Utility company ruptured a gas line while digging. No biggie.
3rd call was for a disturbance at a church in which a female was supposedly going off in the church parking lot. I get there and the lady is there along with about 10 to 15 other people. She is crying and visibly upset. I ask her whats wrong and she tells me that she was chastised by the people standing around her. I ask why and she tells me she came here for help and that she dropped an F-bomb inside the church. It was an AA meeting going on in the church and all the people around her were recovering alcoholics and also GOD fearing people who don't take too kindly to people dropping the F-bomb in church. Well we got past all of that and I finally got most of the people to leave and that rest that stayed were good people who were still willing to help this lady with her demons. After talking to her for about a half an hour I was able to get her to accept a ride to a local hospital so she could talk to someone about her addiction and get the help she needs.
So my last call was the backing officer in another sector and was for a wanted party. Well the log unit got stuck while en route on a disabled vehicle that was partially blocking the road. So I get there and the guys pretty cool about the whole incident and I tell him that I need to confirm the warrant. After I confirm the warrant he tells me the story behind why hes getting arrested. He tells me that he has a couple of girlfriends and that the one who took out the warrant on him is just mad because he's a player and she made all the stuff up. I told him that I believed the warrant was BS but it was out of my control and I had to arrest him. He was ok with that and we joked until the wagon came to take him to lockup. I even smoked a cigarette with him outside his apartment before the wagon got there. Oh and much thanks to the evening shift wagon driver who graciously took the arrest so I didn't get stuck since my shift was over right before I got the call. Thanks Billy!
It was a pretty good shift and went by pretty fast.
Did I make a difference...........Fuckin A I did........dropping the F-bomb!!!!!!!
